Under the Circumstances

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT
Isn’t life challenging? This world can be a crazy place! No matter who you are, no one could have imagined the situations we would find ourselves in, the circumstances that would surround us in the past eighteen months. People ask us how we are doing, and often with a little smile we may say something like this: “Well, I guess I’m okay, under the circumstances.”
That response is easily understandable. Our circumstances determine many things. Our health is a great determinant in what we can do physically. Our finances set the boundaries on what we can have. You get the picture. There are some areas of life that are determined by our circumstances.
But if we are followers of Jesus, peace should never be one of them.
Jesus Christ Himself is the Lord of peace. That means He has all power and all authority over peace. The Lord of peace always has peace. He is Lord over all situations. You know the story—Jesus was lying in the back of the boat, peacefully sleeping, while the disciples were filled with fear because of the wind and the waves (Matthew 8:23-27).
As the Lord of peace with complete power and authority, He can give you His peace at ALL times and in EVERY situation. There is no possible scenario over which He does not have control, which means there is no possible circumstance that can overwhelm our peace if we receive the peace He gives. When the disciples awakened Jesus in their panic, He spoke to the circumstances. He said to the storm, “Peace! Be still!” Immediately the wind and the waves were calm. The disciples were calm because the circumstances were under the authority of the Lord of peace. All of your storms are as well.
“The Lord be with you all,” says Paul. When the Lord of peace is with you, you will have His inexplicable peace no matter what the circumstances.
- Do you have a circumstance at this moment that seems to be smothering you? Talk to the Lord of peace about it. He wants to give you peace at this time, in this situation.
