Confident and Unashamed

January 21, 2022

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes… Romans 1:16 NLT

I have had a hip and knee replaced in the last year. My doctor was imminently skilled and qualified, he was kind and helpful, and what he recommended was just exactly what I needed. My ability to do what I want to do without pain has improved already, and I am anxious for the rest of my reconstructive work to be done. I certainly am not ashamed of the procedures I have had—they have given me a new fulfillment in life! I am ever so grateful for and proud of my doctor. I have led two friends to him since my surgeries, and they have experienced the same results. The start of my story was with my brother, J. He had a hip replacement a few years back, and he said, “Brenda, why would you want to try to keep hobbling on with that pain? This was the wisest, best decision I could have made! You need to do it, too. When you’re sick of the pain and inconvenience, give my doctor a call. You’ll be so glad you did.”

When someone has helped us, when they have lived up to or exceeded our expectations, we are so gratefully proud and confident that we want to recommend them to everyone else we know who is in need. If there’s a doctor who has saved your life, cured something that was destroying you or a family member, you are a lifetime advertisement for that doctor. You are very confident and unashamed to tell your story to everyone who will listen.

Think about what Jesus has done for you. If you have placed your faith in Him and are actively following Him, you can list multiple internal and external improvements in your life. You can tell of the changes that perhaps saved your family, changed your perspective, gave you hope and direction and joy. You can share how grief was going to take you under, and then Jesus entered the picture. You can tell of broken addictions, new opportunities—old things that are gone and new things that have come. Who can you tell? Everyone.

Everyone you know needs the Good News of Christ. You need never be ashamed or lack confidence to tell your story. The entire world is full of people just like you were, people needing hope, direction, and salvation. You found the power of God which will save everyone who believes. You can share—you must share. What you have found is the hope of the entire world.

  • You already know specific people who need the Good News—who should hear your endorsement. Pray for open opportunities and for wisdom and grace in sharing. Ask God to help you have eyes to see and ears to hear people who have needs and are ripe for your story. Pray regularly for unashamed, grateful, and confident sharing to be a hallmark of your life.
