PROGRAM SUMMARY

This program is designed to give participants ministry experience, as well as a glimpse into the life of someone in vocational ministry. Interns will gain valuable experience while working alongside NewPointe staff members. Intern positions require a time commitment of at least 32 hours per week (Monday–Thursday), plus serving during our weekend services. Internships are currently available for our full year term, which runs August 2017 - August 2018.

STRETCH EXPERIENCES

NewPointe interns are expected to lead people and projects in a big way. This is not a time for job shadowing or minor tasks. This is a time for interns to become stronger leaders in ministry and to help them build a portfolio.


COACHING + DEVELOPMENT

NewPointe interns are given the support they need to grow further, faster in the following ways:

  • Mentor relationships with qualified supervisors

CONTINUED EDUCATION

The NewPointe Institute provides interns the opportunity to learn through college-level courses. With qualified faculty teaching in their fields, interns gain a greater understanding of biblical studies and leadership.

CURRENT RESIDENT INTERNSHIP OPENINGS



Adult Ministries Resident Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Adult Ministries Resident Internship gives exposure to practical, hands-on experience in all areas of NewPointe’s Adult Ministries. This position will provide opportunities to develop leadership skills in developing community, actualizing spiritual formation, and demonstrating pastoral care. The intern will gain knowledge of serving with a large campus staff at our Dover Campus, while collaborating with ministry teams at our other campuses.

RESPONSIBILITIES SNAPSHOT

  • Help with the coordination of all Adult Ministries (Small Groups, Baptisms, Pastoral Care, etc.)
  • Develop regional pastoral teams
  • Create guides and administer trainings to assist Adult Ministries leaders in learning the “NewPointe way” to conduct certain aspects of ministry (i.e. funerals)

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years of pastoral theology training
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Creative Arts Programming and Operations Resident Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Creative Arts Programming and Operations Resident Internship gives exposure to practical experience in all aspects of Creative Arts Operations including brainstorming, branding, planning, budgeting, teambuilding, and multisite strategy within the Creative Arts department. The intern will shadow and learn from the Director of Creative Arts, with the goal of being able to program and plan for weekend services and other NewPointe events and environments. The intern will see how Creative Arts processes can be leveraged to support ministry staff, the community, and ultimately lead people to realize and reach their full potential in Jesus Christ.

RESPONSIBILITIES SNAPSHOT

  • Be a member of the creative team, involved in planning and executing creative elements for weekend services
  • Work closely with campuses to ensure that details of creative elements are communicated, resources are provided, and unity and synergy are achieved among the five campuses
  • Contribute to the writing and editing of scripts for creative elements (video, drama, spoken word, spiritual direction moments) as needed
  • Participate in (and occasionally lead) CA department brainstorm meetings
  • Observe and evaluate all elements of weekend services, CA systems and procedures, processes, etc.
  • Project management of events, video shoots, and other projects occasionally
  • Perform research, including watching online services from other churches, searching for things of a creative nature in the nonchurch world, and reviewing new music

Information Technology Resident Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Information Technology Resident Internship gives exposure to a growing church that has a passion for using technology to service both internal and external customers. This is a fast-paced position that will primarily be focused on in-house, full-stack development, using large data sets for reports and organizational health intelligence, and the teaching and training of staff. The intern will see how industry standard tools and practices can be leveraged to support ministry staff, the community, and ultimately lead people to realize and reach their full potential in Jesus Christ.

RESPONSIBILITIES SNAPSHOT

  • Front- and back-end development/maintenance of Church Management System, as well as iOS and Android mobile apps
  • Produce dynamic reports and dashboards using Tableau, PowerBI, and Google Charts to show organizational health
  • Create technical documentation, training documentation, and process flow charts

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Exposure to web application development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and/or ASP.NET
  • Exposure to business intelligence concepts and software
  • Familiarity with web standards and protocols (HTTP, HTML, REST, JSON, etc.)
  • Understanding of Git or other version control systems
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication

Social Media Communications Resident Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Communications Resident Internship gives exposure to practical, hands-on experience in engaging, inspiring, and motivating NewPointe’s followers. This position will provide opportunities to participate in the expansion of social media efforts, become oriented to professional work culture and procedures, foster an awareness of entrepreneurship, and grow personally, spiritually, and professionally. The intern will gain knowledge of serving a church from a Central perspective, while collaborating with our five campuses.

RESPONSIBILITIES SNAPSHOT

  • Produce, distribute, and monitor content in various social networking communities
  • Maintain and grow relationships within social networks and become a brand ambassador in the social space
  • Assist in the evaluation and optimization of social media accounts, the set-up of online advertising campaigns, and the management and analysis of online advertising campaigns
  • Research digital trends and online behaviors of specific target audiences
  • Track social media performance across multiple platforms and provide insights to best practices
  • Communicate with Social Media leaders at every campus to update and post content

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Has an established presence/experience in several of the following social spaces: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, YouTube, LinkedIn
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent search skills for keyword, content, and communities
  • Eager to understand the marketing industry
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

Video Production Resident Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Video Production Resident Internship gives exposure to practical experience in video making, the creative process, teamwork, and team building. This is an opportunity to be exposed to and hone a skill set in the entire video process, from concept to creation. The intern will see how video production can be leveraged to support ministry staff, the community, and ultimately lead people to realize and reach their full potential in Jesus Christ.

RESPONSIBILITIES SNAPSHOT

  • Be a member of the creative team, involved in planning and executing creative elements for weekend services
  • Assist video team in various roles, and be involved in series branding and title video design
  • Plan, write, film, and edit videos for Creative Arts globally (serving five campuses)

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic knowledge of DSLRA cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and shot composition
  • Basic knowledge of the entire video process
  • Editing experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over 18 years of age (target: 18-25)
  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent) or higher
  • Exemplifies and lives a life in Christ
  • Fully supports the mission and vision of NewPointe Community Church

All interested applicants are required to complete a Resident Internship Application, using the Apply Here links under each opening description. In order to be considered, applicants must complete all required pieces of the application, including a resume and at least a one-minute video explaining why they want to be an intern and why they should be chosen.

A select group of applicants will be chosen for the interview process. After the interview process is complete, applicants will be notified if they have been chosen for the Resident Internship Program.




FAQs


DO RESIDENT INTERNS WORK ON SUNDAY?

Yes. All Interns will be members of our campus volunteer teams and will serve at our weekend services. The department supervisors will determine the role for each Intern position.


IS THE RESIDENT INTERNSHIP PAID?

Yes. Interns are paid a $600 monthly stipend to help with the cost of living. However, if someone is earning college credit through the Internship program, the guidelines set forth by the college or university in regards to compensation will be followed.


HOW CAN I GET A COLLEGE CREDIT?

If your college or university offers Resident Internship opportunities, we will work directly with your counselors and/or professors to ensure you meet all the necessary requirements.


WILL NEWPOINTE HELP RESIDENT INTERNS WITH HOUSING?

Yes. NewPointe has limited housing opportunities available for Interns on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition, Interns can stay with “Host Families” from within the church.


WILL I HEAR FROM SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY?

You will receive a confirmation e-mail upon submitting your application. Due to the number of applications received, we will only contact applicants we choose to interview. All interviewed applicants will receive communication once selections have been made.


DO I NEED A CAR?

Yes. The majority of a Resident Intern’s responsibilities require them to have reliable transportation. This ranges from daily job responsibilities, being able to get to and from work, and serving at our weekend services.
