I’m with Him

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

The commission that God who is FOR the world gave us is very simple but not easy: Love the world unconditionally as Jesus loved, and win the world, teaching them everything God has shown us. If we think about it without recognizing where the power comes from, we will be overwhelmed and stop before we ever get started.

When Jesus gave us His commission through these first disciples, He began by assuring them that every ounce of authority in heaven and on earth belonged to Him. No one can ever trump Him—not now; not ever. We will never face an enemy or be challenged by a force greater than Him. Then He said that He Himself, with all of that authority, will be completely will us every second, forever, even until the very end of it all. We will never be alone.

My ability to give and love and serve and be FOR the world is the fact that the One who is FOR me and FOR the world is forever with me as I work to fulfill His purpose in me. My power will come from His power and presence. That will be more than enough.

  • Dear Jesus, You are FOR me. You proved it in every possible way. You have given me an awesome purpose—to love the world as You have loved me, and serve everyone with the kind of compassion and mercy You did. Because you are with me and in me, I accept the challenge. We will walk through this day together, living and loving as we walk out my purpose. When the day is over, may You and I both be more than satisfied with the way we have lived this day together.

Thank you for being FOR me.
