Live Supernaturally

The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. John 6:63 NLT

As we have discovered, the most supernatural thing we can do is please God and live above the corruption of the world. The Holy Spirit is full of power for supernatural living in our lives. The technologically advanced Western world makes a disconnect between the natural and the supernatural, or spiritual, realms. That is unfortunate. The Scriptures show Jesus and His followers consistently connecting with the supernatural.

Jesus said that human effort, the natural, accomplishes nothing. That may be a hard pill for most of us to swallow. We try hard and are proud of our efforts and abilities. Surely what we do accomplishes something. But the only thing that is eternal is what is empowered by the Spirit of God.

Do you want to connect with the supernatural power of God? Read the Bible. It is made real, understandable, and alive to you by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that His very words are spirit and life. Reading the words of God in the Scriptures brings you into direct contact with the Holy Spirit and the supernatural.

Jesus also said,“It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Reading and hearing God’s Word exposes us to the revelation from the Spirit of God, who inspired the Scriptures. As you read the Bible, you are experiencing words which are “spirit and life,” words which come to you directly from the supernatural realm of God.

Another supernatural gift is given to us when we pray. Romans 8:14-16says, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, ‘Abba, Father.’ For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.”

What a gift! We can be consistently led by the Spirit. We can be continually reminded that we are God’s children. That’s one of the reasons why we pray. Prayer opens and sensitizes our spirits to the Holy Spirit’s voice. Prayer takes major steps toward eliminating that disconnect between the natural and the supernatural.

  • Read the Bible slowly. Stop to think and meditate upon its truths. Give the Holy Spirit time and opportunity to open your understanding to spiritual things.
  • Talk to God. Ask Him to bring the things to mind you need to remember. Then quietly wait for Him to answer.
