Destroyed by Insecurity

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. Romans 8:37 NLT
We already know that Satan is verbally skilled. He is a liar—a very clever liar. He lies to us in the places where we are weakest and insecure, already telling ourselves untruth. That makes his lies very easy to assimilate. We will defeat him when we arm ourselves with truth.
The devil will tell you that you are not loved and never will be truly loved because you aren’t good enough. Every one of us has heard those lies. But God tells us the truth. He says that we are His special masterpiece: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:10).
In addition, Paul says we are not only loved and good enough, but we are also more than enough. In Christ we also win overwhelming victory! Romans 8:37 in the NIV is translated “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
The devil will use our situations and struggles in life to convince us we will never win. The devil wants to destroy us. He wants us to settle for what the world has given us and accept what we consider our lot in life. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 says, “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.”
But Paul, who experienced challenges and fought battles in life we will never experience, found nothing capable of defeating him. He chose to believe in God’s love for and commitment to him, so he just kept fighting, and getting up again. He won overwhelming victory against overwhelming odds! So will we.
Satan sounds tough and undefeatable. But he lies to himself first. He actually knows the truth right now and has ever since the resurrection. He knows Jesus has already won and he will one day go down forever. His only option is to take us down with him, and he can only do that if we believe his lies.
- Thank Jesus for His death and resurrection that make us overwhelming victors. Thank Him for the security you have in His love.
