Pray

June 29, 2022

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent. 2 Peter 3:9 NLT

One of the major contributions we can make to seeing Jesus’ mission be fulfilled is prayer. The thing God wants more than anything is for all of the people He loves to know His Son Jesus. Scripture is full of words that help us express the Father’s heart—you can make those words your own (see examples below). Pray for individuals, communities, and countries. You can know you are making a difference.

Father God, I know that “no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them” (John 6:44). I ask that You draw _____________ to Jesus, that he/she may know You personally and enjoy forever with You.

Lord God, I ask that You move upon _____________’s heart to accept the truth. “Give them a heart to know You, that You are the Lord, so that they will be Your people and You will be their God.” May they “return to You with all their heart” (Jeremiah 24:7). Overwhelm _____________ with the reality of Your love for him/her, that he/she may “have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is” (Ephesians 3:18-19).

Lord, “open _____________ eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people” (Acts 26:18).

Holy Spirit, show me specifically how to minister to each member of my family through serving them. Help my life speak strongly and humbly. “Let my good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise my heavenly Father” (Matthew 5:16). Reveal opportunities to share about You, and give me the strength to speak with gentleness and love when You open the door.

Father God, Your Word says that “the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation” (2 Corinthians 7:10). Only You can open our eyes to the reality that all have sinned. Come upon _____________ with a sense of godly sorrow and repentance so he/she may be saved.

God works wonders as we pray! Who knows what will be the case a year from now if we pray this way?

  • Commit to engage or re-engage with the NewPointe mission through prayer. Pray prayers such as these at least one day weekly through the end of the year.
