Alignment: The Reason and Result

March 21, 2023

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Alignment is a word that has become prominent in our conversations about health, personal productivity, and leadership. We are more and more aware that if we desire fulfillment in business, family, and community, alignment in our values is vital. This enables better decisions and choices, leading to satisfaction and significance in our one and only lives.

To have personal alignment is to have a position of agreement in our thoughts, choices, and direction in life. Alignment in our core enables and protects our joy and peace. When our values determine our intentions and our intentions determine our actions, that is alignment. It makes decisions much simpler. Then, if we align ourselves with people who share our values, the purpose and joy in our lives multiplies.

If at any time we fall out of alignment with our values or with the people around us, we lose focus. We second guess and question our choices, thoughts, and decisions. That makes for a rocky life. It’s like driving a car. When the wheels are aligned, the journey is smoother, safer, and more enjoyable.

All of Scripture points to the necessity of aligning our lives with the heart and purpose of God. We do that by trusting with all of our hearts, refusing to depend on our own understanding, seeking His will in all we do. We pursue His kingdom, will, and righteousness. We rejoice that He is the beginning and the end of everything; first in EVERYTHING. He IS everything. We find our significant purpose as we align ourselves with others who share the same core values, are on the same journey, pursuing the same mission.

The best part of aligning ourselves in this way? Jesus promises, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them” (John 14:23 NLT).

  • Thank God for the privilege of living life in synch with His heart and purpose. Thank Jesus for making His home in your heart.
