It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NLT
There’s an old statement frequently attributed to Plato that says, “Truth is its own reward.” It means that truth-telling is valuable and satisfying in itself, regardless of the other rewards or consequences. For certain we know that having true faith in God and sincerely seeking Him is its own reward. Regardless of anything else we receive or don’t get in life, having an intimate relationship with God is life’s greatest reward.
While it is true that sometimes God’s reward might come in the form of influence, position, and financial success, those are insignificant compared to the rewards that are guaranteed by our relationship of faith and trust. When we diligently pursue Him through prayer, listening to Him and reading His Word, seeking His will and wisdom in all of life, God’s response is a rewarding, resourced relationship.
Regardless of any other rewards or blessings, those who pursue God are guaranteed the following rewards:
Presence and Love – When you seek God, you experience His powerful and overwhelming Presence in your life, bringing love and filling your experiences with Him. The continuity of His presence stabilizes and secures your life.
Peace and Clarity – Diligently seeking God and living by faith brings a deeper awareness
of peace, and a sense of clarity. This results in finding direction and navigating the challenges and decisions of life much easier.
Wisdom and Strength – The closer the relationship, the more wisdom God provides, giving strength and empowering you to overcome and persevere.
Eternal Life – For those who persevere in seeking God and doing good as He said, the ultimate reward is eternal life. Ultimate does not simply mean at the end of life and heaven. The eternal life begins now with the faith that brings energy and joy to life in the present.
- God is a Father who cares and notices, responds and rewards. He will respond to our faith with more and more resources for life and growing intimacy. Father, I do not want to miss anything You have for me! I am seeking You!
