Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power. For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 NLT
The New Testament is full of testimony to the supreme unmatched authority of King Jesus.
Satan sought to kill Him before He even uttered His first cry as a newborn infant and never gave up. Throughout His earthly life and ministry, however, Satan could never win. When He spoke, the devil’s demons were vanquished and sent running. On the other hand, many people, even the ones who opposed Him, were amazed at His authority because He SPOKE as one having ultimate authority, unlike the religious teachers. He demonstrated power over life and death, over all of nature. Everything that has attempted to stand against Him has failed.
Jesus sustains everything by the mighty power of His command (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus has unmatched authority. The Roman government tried to intimidate Him. Powerful false religious leaders tried to silence Him. Satan tried to kill Him. Through the centuries, right up until today every kind of person and argument has tried to impeach His authority, and yet He stands at the command center of all creation. He is the permanent occupant of the Oval Office of the cosmos. He stills storms with a word. He breathes life into the long dead. He makes banquets from bits of bread. Jesus outranks Satan in every situation and circumstance. He will never fail in any situation. His authority has no end! This is our KING!
