Jesus: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” John 14:6 NIV
We all say we need and want the truth. That’s probably our real desire most of the time, but we all have times when the truth is uncomfortable, right? Uncomfortable enough that we want to avoid it or we hope someone will shade it a bit for us. For instance, sometimes we don’t want to go to the doctor because the truth of what he might say makes us uneasy. Sometimes we don’t balance the checkbook because the carelessness we have lived by may be coming due. Then, there are the leading statements we can make, attempting to script the truth. “What I said wasn’t too harsh, was it?”
Jesus will sometimes give us uncomfortable truth, but we can count on it to be 100% reliable 100% of the time. The view from His truth is what determines the satisfaction and outcome of our lives. Jesus is the ultimate "truth-giver" and embodiment of truth, famously declaring in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He represents God's full and complete revelation, the path to God Himself, and the source of spiritual life that sets us free from sin. Jesus delivers divine truth, exposes falsehood, and provides the way to eternal life through faith in Him. He is completely trustworthy, the Messiah God promised who fulfills the Old Testament prophecies and promises and daily fulfills every need of our souls and lives.
Jesus said when we hold on to His truth, we will truly be His disciples and the truth will set us free (John 8:31-32). How can we be sure to be led by His truth in 2026? Acknowledge that Jesus is always the Source of ultimate Truth. He is the opposite of deceit. Pray: God, I thank You for the gift of truth that is Jesus. Help me always look to Him and not be distracted by attractive lies. Actively seek wisdom and understanding: Ask for discernment to know and apply truth in a confusing world. As James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Pray: Jesus, give me discernment to know and live by Your truth today in all situations. Depend on the truth that is Jesus for your identity. Discover who you are by who God says you are. You have a new identity in Christ that is not defined by your feelings or the opinions of others. Pray: Jesus, correct the lies I believe about myself with the truth of who I am in You. May I live in freedom, believing what is already true about me. Live righteously. Let the truth of Jesus guide all your actions and decisions. Truth is not facts to be gathered; it is the way you live. Pray: Jesus, I commit to the journey of truth with You in 2026. I want to live in Your truth and be a channel of Your truth to others.
- Jesus, help me stay connected to You above everything. You ARE the Truth, the Life, and the Way. When things seem confusing, help me remember that You are the Source of all I need. I open my ears and heart to hear Your clear, trustworthy voice.
