The Me-Too Moment

The Me-Too Moment

March 16, 2026

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT

God often speaks through the vulnerable, even raw, honest, and redemptive stories of others. In my own life and experience, God has used the written and up-close and personal stories of others to reveal His presence and love. Their stories are strengthening and hope-building. Their experiences mirror my own, and every “me-too” moment shows me God at work. Many of those “friends” are biblical, some are from stories I hear through personal relationships or testimonies shared in group events, some from books and other accounts.

But wherever those stories originate, Scripture and life following Jesus tell us that our stories are meant to be shared. Your story is a powerful, unique tool for healing and for God’s work in the lives of others. Your past pain experience is someone else’s survival guide, helping them cope, overcome adversity, find hope, and feel less alone. When I suddenly became a widow seven years ago, I determined I would open my heart especially to women as they walk this major curve in the road. Tonight I am meeting for another coffee and conversation with my neighbor whose husband died six weeks ago. She said she “has had no one” who understood until me. What a wonderful “me-too moment,” orchestrated by our Father! This opportunity grows me, too, as I offer her empathy, comforting her with the same comfort Jesus gave me. I believe she will grow a vital relationship with the God of all comfort herself and will eventually be used to help others.

By sharing your journey – including trials and triumphs – you reveal God's faithfulness and love, and you turn your pain into purpose, offering comfort and inspiration to those in need. It not only helps them, but it carries untold blessings for you as well. Sharing your story allows God to turn your broken, most challenging chapters into victorious life lessons. You are a powerful witness that He can heal any situation and use your life to help others. Your vulnerability is not weakness – it is powerful for you and the ones who receive it. It provides the “me-too moment” their souls seek. It makes you more aware that you have a significant role to play in the lives of others Jesus loves.

  • Jesus, help me remember I am to be a conduit of comfort and care to others. What You give me is not intended to stop with me. It is a love gift to me that multiplies as I share with others. Help my ears and eyes be tuned to Your Spirit as I walk through my days, so I don’t miss Your signals to share my hope story as needed.
