Today’s Scripture: Joshua 1:9
Joshua faced an overwhelming assignment.
Moses was gone. The nation of Israel was looking to him for leadership. The challenges ahead seemed enormous.
In that moment, God gave Joshua a command: “Be strong and courageous.”
Notice that God did not tell Joshua to be fearless. He told him to be courageous. There is a difference. Fear is an emotion. Courage is a decision. Courage chooses obedience even when fear is present.
Every follower of Jesus encounters moments requiring courage. Sometimes courage looks dramatic. More often it appears in ordinary acts of faithfulness.
It takes courage to forgive. It takes courage to trust. It takes courage to obey when the outcome is uncertain.
The good news is that God’s command was accompanied by a promise: “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua’s confidence was not rooted in his abilities. It was rooted in God’s presence.
The same promise belongs to us today. You do not face challenges alone. You do not walk through uncertainty alone. God is with you. And His presence gives you everything you need to take the next step.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
What courageous step is God inviting you to take? Write it down and ask Him for the strength to act.
PRAYER
Lord, like Joshua, I face challenges that feel bigger than I am. Thank You that courage is a decision I can make even when fear remains. Help me be strong and courageous, not because of my own abilities, but because You have promised to be with me wherever I go.
